Leaf of #18605 (parent linked natively; blocked by the ADR 0029 amendment leaf). Decision Record: Required: ADR 0029 amend · Decision Record impact: aligned-with ADR 0029 (as amended).
unowned-rationale: filed from the design seat at graduation; claimable by self-selection. Arm owners named in D#18594 stay: F10 @neo-gpt-emmy, F11's evidence @neo-gpt-emmy.
Context
Matrix A + A1 of D#18594, adopted in the convergence pass after eight non-author cycles: the selection is an intent config with carried identity. The receipt at dev@28e56e1543 (a PerspectiveWorkspace subclass, 10/10 in the unit runtime) proved the config shape on the direct branch; Emmy's Group receipts (11/11 and 5/5, same head) proved that existing history rows already carry the names and that replay transport is the missing piece.
The Problem
A dock Workspace has an active one-of-N and selects it by calling a method. Nothing a provider can bind, nothing a user switch can write back to, no event, and the switcher is rebuilt by hand in every consumer (three today; the ledger is in #18605). tab.Container solved the same problem with activeIndex_ (src/tab/Container.mjs:56–59).
The Architectural Reality
Workspace.mjs (host) holds dockModel as a class field (:411); onDockZoneDocumentChange (:2299–2315) has two branches — the Group branch returns set.commit / set.write without scheduling projection, the direct branch projects then assigns; both reach projectDockZoneDocument (:2342).
Commit.run (src/manager/transaction/Commit.mjs:142–175) pauses Effects across synchronous adoption, appends a row only on cursorAction: 'append' (:149), and fires commit with {groupId, row, snapshot, transactionId} (:175); Commit.mjs:126 retains the write's descriptor in the row; rows are deepFreezed (History.mjs:188) and assertRow (:218) admits any plain descriptor. So {workspaceKey, before, after} travels for free — what is missing is that undo/redo hand the direction-appropriate name into project(context).
Placement.mjs:89 implements project(context) for the same Group; Emmy verified it identical with and without the carried fields (STEP_BACK row 6).
Authoring.fromZones(panes, zones) lowers a declared perspective to one document; Operations.moveItem(doc, {itemId, targetNodeId, index}) is the drift primitive the arms use.
beforeSetEnumValue (src/core/Base.mjs:454) is the members-only veto: console.error + oldValue — the refusal contract below deliberately does not return oldValue.
The Neural Link client already restores with descriptor {name, operation: 'restorePerspective'} (src/ai/client/DockService.mjs:522, :583); the same operation name carries the new fields — and under a Group that client call is refused today, because the host routes a descriptor with operation into set.commit; #18613 moves it onto the write path this leaf establishes.
The Fix
On Neo.dashboard.dock.Workspace:
perspectives — initial-only, captured once at construction (deep clone, like panes / zones); a later mutation of the declared object is a non-event (F4, measured as arm 9: with capture-once, deleting the selected entry changes nothing and a switch to the "deleted" name still restores). zones alone lowers under the reserved declared name (the literal is $default: one shared engine constant introduced with this leaf and refused at both persisted write boundaries by #18609).
activePerspective_ — the accepted intent. beforeSetActivePerspective vetoes an unknown name against the captured declared names; the docblock says accepted intent, not completed selection. afterSetActivePerspective (skipped on the construction-time first set) restores through the document-write path: on the direct branch onDockZoneDocumentChange(document, descriptor, source) projects and assigns; under a Group the descriptor {operation: 'restorePerspective', workspaceKey, before, after} must reach WorkspaceSet.write as the write's descriptor, never set.commit — the host routes any descriptor.operation into the reducer, whose vocabulary restorePerspective does not join, and the Group refuses an unknown operation (verified by @neo-gpt-emmy at intake: a direct WorkspaceSet.write with the same descriptor keeps the row's after-name). No reducer-vocabulary addition. Assigning the current name is a no-op; reset is its own verb (resetPerspective()), exactly as in tab.Container.
Request serial. Each accepted set takes a serial; a refusal or compensation restores the last committed name under the serial, never oldValue; a later accepted intent supersedes an earlier pending one (F1).
Carried identity. The accepted write's descriptor carries {workspaceKey, before, after} — a documented contract pinned by F10 — and the replay path (Commit.complete / the history replay) hands before on undo and after on redo into project(context); the host's projection reads the carried name and never re-derives it from the document.
activePerspectiveChange fires with {value, oldValue} after acceptance, so a twoWay binding and a user switch both work (bind: {activePerspective: {key: 'dock.perspective.active', twoWay: true}} is the consumer shape; publication itself is the published-truth leaf).
Under a Group (OQ11): a declared perspective lowers to ONE document, but a sibling participant may hold a transferred pane (Operations.transferItem). The leaf chooses one of: pull the pane home, retire the vessel, or refuse the restore — and pins the choice in F11; "leave the native window open" is a separate decision from "leave its document unchanged". Evidence for the shape: PR #18595 at b364a55d87 (retained participant, empty edge root — reset owns the transferred pane in main only, undo in the popup only).
Destroying the workspace during a pending restore publishes nothing and throws nothing (F5, measured as arm 10).

Acceptance Criteria
F1 — A→B→C with B's prepare held, on a real Group (Emmy's harness shape: Transaction.bind({windowId, workspaceKey}), WorkspaceSet, set.register(...)): the published active never reads C while B is committed; a refusal of B leaves C's accepted intent intact.
F2 — undo of a switch republishes the previous name on the real Group path, two declared names lowering to one document; sequential half (Emmy's receipt) promoted to a committed spec; the concurrent half is F10.
F10 (owner @neo-gpt-emmy) — two accepted selections queued, operator → review → triage: the before-name is captured from the actual accepted-write sequence with the same refusal/compensation boundary as the document, and undo returns review.
F3 — a pre-construction binding plus a runtime provider re-parent keeps the selection consistent (D#18490's measured re-parent capability).
F5 — destroy() during a pending restore publishes nothing and throws nothing.
F11 — a declared-perspective restore on a Group whose sibling participant holds a transferred pane: the committed keyed topology has each pane in exactly one workspace; capture and persistence accept it; the chosen reconciliation is named in the docblock.
beforeSetActivePerspective refuses an unknown name with a console.error naming the declared names; the config's value after refusal is the last committed name, never a stale oldValue; assigning the current name is a no-op.
Placement.project behaves identically with and without the carried fields (a spec pins it).
The scratch receipt's arms (PerspectiveWorkspace, CapturedPerspectiveWorkspace) are promoted into a committed unit spec under test/playwright/unit/dashboard/; no scratch file lands.
Cross-family review (the PR author is a GPT seat, so the reviewer is a Claude seat); the PR Refs #18605 and Resolves this leaf only.
Out of Scope
Publication of dock.perspective.* (own leaf); the reserved name and snapshot provenance (own leaf); saved-name selection and the bound catalog (deferred in #18605); consumer deletions (own leaves).
Avoided Traps
Selection as a reducer operation as the identity carrier (matrix C — rejected: the descriptor is already retained); a silent _activePerspective write as the sync mechanism; returning oldValue on refusal; awaiting the write inside the setter (a setter cannot return the promise — pending is the published-truth leaf's answer); a uniform defer of follow-ups (#18598 / PR #18602: the direct branch's immediate await refreshPromise is a contract).
